outside2Over his  over 30-year career as a professional electric and acoustic bassist, Steve has performed, recorded and toured with some of the biggest names in the music business including Donna Summer, Bette Midler, Ben E King and Debbie Harry. His prolific work spans almost every genre of music – jazz, blues, R&B, rock ‘n roll, country, Cajun, Bluegrass, disco, folk, classical and pop – and he has played at world-famous New York City venues including Madison Square Garden, Carnegie Hall and Blue Note Jazz Club.

Living throughout his career in Manhattan and now Brooklyn, Steve has also played in numerous Broadway and off-Broadway shows including the award-winning musicals Mamma Mia, Aida and Billy Elliot, and has performed with various symphony orchestras including the Edmonton Symphony, the Nashville Symphony and the New York Pops. For the last 10 years, Steve has been on faculty at the Bass Collective in Manhattan.

Steve’s Background

Steve’s prolific 32-year career as a professional musician has made him an accomplished bassist in many different genres of music. He can play jazz, blues, folk, R&B, rock ‘n roll, country, Cajun, Bluegrass, disco, classical and pop.

Born in Westchester, NY, Steve started playing bass guitar when he was 13-years-old. By his early 20s, the self-taught musician was touring with several bands around the USA before becoming a regular bassist for the early R&B bands The Drifters, The Coasters and The Shirelles.

In addition to the school of experience, Steve has studied with some of the world’s finest bass musicians including Lincoln Goines, Jerry Jemmot, Jeff Andrews and Homer Mench, principle acoustic bassist of the New York Philharmonic.

Moving to Manhattan in 1987 opened up a whole new musical world. Steve has played at the city’s finest musical venues – Madison Square Garden, Carnegie Hall and Blue Note Jazz Club. Artists he has performed with both in the USA and around the world include Donna Summer, Bette Midler, Ben E King, Johnny Copeland, Toshi Reagon and Pinetop Perkins.

He has also played in some of the best known shows both on and off Broadway including the award-winning Mamma Mia, Aida and Billy Elliot, and performed classical and pops concerts with various symphony orchestras including the Edmonton Symphony, the Nashville Symphony and the New York Pops.

For the last 10 years, Steve, has also been teaching bass at the prestigious Bass Collective music college in Manhattan, where he is on faculty. He has also appeared on television shows The Today Show and Good Day New York among others.
